Israeli intel: Hamas using Qatar as base to plot terror strikes

Special to WorldTribune.com
TEL AVIV — Israel’s intelligence community has determined that Qatar
was serving as an operational base for Hamas.
Officials said the intelligence community has tracked an increasing
number of Hamas operations to Qatar. They said the Hamas presence in the
Gulf Cooperation Council emirate, which included much of the political
bureau, has led to initiatives to plot attacks against Israel in the West
Bank.

“Qatar has allowed Hamas considerable leeway in planning terrorist plots against Israel,” an official said.
On June 3, the Israel Security Agency reported Qatar’s involvement in a Hamas plot to attack Israelis and abduct soldiers. ISA said the plot was directed by Hamas operative Ibrahim Hajaz, one of more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners released in 2011 in exchange for Sgt. Gilad Shalit. Hajaz, sentenced to 10 life terms, was sent to Qatar.
“He currently lives in Qatar,” ISA said.
[On June 19, Palestinian gunners from the Gaza Strip fired at least three rockets into Israel. The rockets fell into open areas near the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon and nobody was reported injured.]
Officials said Hajaz recruited a Palestinian from Ramallah named Bahar
Saad. They said Hajaz met Saad in Jordan where he was recruited and told to
organize an insurgency network that would be trained in Sudan.
“During their meeting, Saad was recruited to Hamas, and instructed to
advance shooting and kidnapping attacks against settlers and soldiers upon
his return [to the West Bank],” ISA said. “Saad was also also instructed to
recruit additional members, and agreed to travel to Sudan to undergo
military training.”
Officials said they did not know how Hajaz was allowed entry by Jordan.
They said Jordan has usually stopped known Hamas operatives, including
senior commanders.
ISA said Hajaz had told Saad that he would receive four weapons for
attacks in the West Bank. The agency said Hajaz had planned to use a courier
to deliver the weapons.
“The results of the investigation into Baker Saad reflect a significant
trend among Hamas terror operatives released in the Gilad Shalit prisoner
exchange who have returned to terror activity,” ISA said. “Many of these
terrorists have intended to carry out kidnapping attacks in order to bargain
for the release of detained terrorists.”
Officials said Qatar has been approached to stop Hamas activities. But
they said Doha, despite repeated pledges, has not restricted Hamas.
“Hamas is seen by Qatar as a very important ally,” the official said.

Evidence Indicates Michael Hastings Was Assassinated…

gopthedailydose

200613top5
(Paul Joseph Watson) — The revelation that Rolling Stone journalist Michael Hastings was working on a story about the CIA before his death and had contacted a Wikileaks lawyer about being under investigation by the FBI hours before his car exploded into flames has bolstered increasingly valid claims that the 33-year-old was assassinated.
Hastings died early Tuesday morning in Hollywood when his car allegedly hit a tree at high speed. The Los Angeles Coroner’s office has not yet been able to officially identify the body as Hastings because it is so badly burned.
Skeptics of the official narrative have highlighted eyewitness accounts which state that Hastings’ Mercedes “exploded”.
Images of the vehicle appear to show more damage to the rear, around the area of the fuel tank, than the front, leading to speculation that a car bomb which ignited the fuel could have been responsible for the incident.
“No matter how you slice this particular pie, a Mercedes is not just going to explode into flames without a little assistance,” writes freelance journalist Jim Stone. “Car fires in new cars happen for three main reasons — running the engine out of oil, or running the engine out of coolant, or after an absolutely huge car mangling accident, having the hot side of the battery short out against the frame before it reaches the fuse panel. And for all 3 of those normal reasons, which account for virtually all car fires in modern cars, the fire would have started in the engine compartment, progressed slowly, and scorched the hell out of the paint before ever reaching the gas tank. That clean paint is the be all tell all, Michael Hastings was murdered, and the rest is detail.”
Stone also questions why a white sheet has been draped over the vehicle in the image below.
200613car
The questions surrounding the precise nature of the “accident” that killed Hastings are given more weight by the fact that the journalist had made enemies within both the FBI and the CIA.
“Michael Hastings contacted WikiLeaks lawyer Jennifer Robinson just a few hours before he died, saying that the FBI was investigating him,” the official Wikileaks Twitter account announced yesterday.
Hastings “had the Central Intelligence Agency in his sights” and was set to release an article exposing the agency, according to L.A. Weekly.
The Obama administration and the Justice Department have openly claimed the authority to assassinate American citizens anywhere in the world if they are deemed a national security threat. A number of American citizens have already been killed as a result of this policy. Is it really that crazy to suggest that Michael Hastings was merely the latest victim of this doctrine?
The New York Daily News highlights the fact that Hastings had received multiple death threats before his demise.
Following his role in bringing down Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, Hastings was told by a McChrystal staffer, “We’ll hunt you down and kill you if we don’t like what you write.”
“Whenever I’d been reporting around groups of dudes whose job it was to kill people, one of them would usually mention that they were going to kill me,” said Hastings.
Hastings was renowned for being “only interested in writing stories someone didn’t want him to write — often his subjects,” according to Buzzflash editor Ben Smith, adding, “He knew that there are certain truths that nobody has an interest in speaking, ones that will make you both your subjects and their enemies uncomfortable. They’re stories that don’t get told because nobody in power has much of an interest in telling them.”
The fact that Hastings had made a plethora of enemies as a result of his hard-hitting investigative journalism has prompted a deluge of online comment speculating that the writer’s “car crash” was no accident.
“Hastings’ wreck might make sense on the freeway, but I doubt he’d be dumb enough to go 100 mph on Highland. He’s not some dumb college kid,” said one commenter on a local news site.
“A warning to other journalists to not dig too deep,” another Reddit user wrote. “Stick with the party line if you want a long, happy life.”
If this was an isolated incident then there wouldn’t be so many questions swirling about Hastings’ death. However, he’s certainly not the first individual to go up against the military-industrial complex and wind up in a coffin.
Other journalists who have proven to be a thorn in the side of the establishment have met the same fate, from Andrew Breitbart who was about to release damaging pre-election information about Barack Obama before he collapsed and died in strange circumstances, to Gary Webb, the Pullitzer prize-winning author who exposed the CIA’s involvement in the drug trade and subsequently committed “suicide” after apparently shooting himself in the head – twice.
More recently, Ibragim Todashev, friend of accused Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnev, was shot in the head six times by the FBI, who initially claimed Todashev was armed but later had to admit this was a lie. Speculation has raged that Todashev was assassinated because he had knowledge about the Boston bombings which the feds didn’t want to see the light of public scrutiny.
Despite his actions, the murder of Christopher Dorner, who was burned to death by LAPD officers while hiding inside a cabin, shows that authorities will not hesitate to resort to such methods.
It’s virtually inevitable that the true cause of Michael Hastings death will never be known and that the mainstream media will demonize anyone who questions the official narrative as a conspiracy theorist. Meanwhile, journalists and others who pose a threat to the military-industrial complex will continue to die in bizarre “accidents” that stink of foul play.

FBI DENIES INVESTIGATING HASTINGS, LAPD SEES NO FOUL PLAY

 21 Jun 2013

According to a tweet from Wikileaks and Ben Smith, editor-in-chief of the liberal site BuzzFeed Politics, not long before his death in a one-person car crash earlier this week, left-wing journalist Michael Hastings believed he was under investigation by the FBI.

Friday, the FBI denied it had ever investigated Hastings.
Immediately after the news of the 33-year-old reporter's death broke, conspiracy theories started to swirl claiming that the government was behind the fiery crash. The Wikileaks' tweet and Smith's apparent confirmation only served to fuel those theories.
As of now, though, the LAPD does not suspect foul play and the evidence points to speed being the major cause of the 4:30 am accident.
A toxicology report is expected in a few weeks. Hastings had a history of drunk-driving and admitted to struggling with substance abuse.

Bee's Note:
OK, I do have a question.  How is it that this car supposedly "hit a tree", but the tree is standing without a split in it and it's surely not lying on the ground (or over the rooftop of the car?!  I have witnessed a car hitting a tree, and the car and tree did not look like this photo!  That car looks like a missile hit it - same type photos taken of cars hit by missiles in Gaza.

But, that's just my opinion and as the next article (below) explains, there is very little trust between this government and its people!  Too many "coincidental" deaths occurring during this administration.  (Breitbart comes to mind; he was also only 33 years of age).  Oh, and then there are the stories about two navy seals falling out of a helicopter during training; and the 20 Seals blown out of the sky in Afghanistan (who just happened to have been involved in the bin Laden incident in Pakistan).  Anyone care to connect the dots?!

Michael Hastings Dead After Telling WikiLeaks “I’m being Investigated by the FBI”

Award-winning freelance journalist Michael Hastings died on Tuesday at the age of 33 after a 4:30 a.m. car crash in Los Angeles. Initial reports indicate that he was alone when his vehicle “hit a tree” while traveling at a high rate of speed according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. Astonishingly – according to a tweet made by WikiLeaks, the accident occurred just a few short hours after Hastings had been in contact with their lawyer informing her that he was being investigated by the FBI: ....
Hastings, who won a 2010 George Polk award for his “reporting in the public interest,” was well known for his coverage of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 2010 he interviewed Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, then the top commander of United States forces in Afghanistan. Hastings’ report quoted the general and his staff as being critical of the Obama administrations handling of those conflicts. Just days later U.S. President Barack Obama called McChrystal to his office and fired him on the spot. -
The scope of his work combined with the timing of the fatal accident and the content of his final message to WikiLeaks are points which are  sure to raise warranted suspicions among theorists of legitimate government conspiracy – during a time when the federal gestapo is less worthy of trust than at any point in our history. Rest in peace. -

Damascus under fire, US deploys hundreds of troops in Jordan

Fierce battles rage in Syrian capital, Aleppo in north. After series of Assad forces victorie, Syrian rebels receive new arms, promise turn in tide
News Agencies
Published: 06.22.13, 00:29 / Israel News

Assad's forces, backed by Hezbollah fighters, have launched a campaign to crush the rebel pockets in Damascus, particularly in the north-east of the capital and its surroundings.

Meanwhile, Syrian rebels are not losing hope, and high-ranking officers in the Free Syrian Army said they have received new weapons from friendly countries that could lead to changes on the ground and victories against President Bashar Assad's forces.

At the same time, fears of an escalation in the fighting have led the White House to leave about 700 combat-ready troops inJordan after the military exercise which took place this week in the Hashemite Kingdom.

According to a statement made by United States President Barack Obama, per the Jordanian government's request, the troops will remain in Jordanian territory until the security situation will allow their departure.

According to the White House statement, the remaining force includes Patriot Missile systems, fighter jets among others.

Since Wednesday, Assad's forces have launched an attack against the rebel pockets in Damascus, and the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights (OSDH) reported the army resumed bombing the Qaboun
neighborhood of the capital.

Also in Aleppo, the army bombed several areas, and two rebels were killed in the fighting. Conversely, state TV channels in Syriareported that army forces killed several "terrorists" near the main Aleppo prison, and destroyed arms stockpiles and ammunition, including anti-aircraft weapons.

But against the backdrop of the seeming turn in the tide in favor of the regime, high rebel officials made clear that the battle is far from over after receiving new arms from friendly countries.

The arms shipments arrived recently from Arab nations and other countries, a spokesman for the opposition fighters, Loay AlMikdad, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

He did not elaborate on the shipments but insisted no weapons have come from the United States so far.
AlMikdad's comments confirm earlier AP reporting that new weapons were recently delivered to the opposition from allies, enabling them to stall advances by regime forces in the northern city of Aleppo, Syria's largest, and elsewhere.

Opposition members and experts had told the AP that Gulf countries delivered earlier this month new anti-tank missiles and some anti-aircraft missiles to rebel commanders.

But the United Nations have taken care to cool the rebels' enthusiasm: a UN human rights investigator warned on Friday that increasing the flow of weapons to Syria's government and rebel forces will most likely cause an increase in war crimes.

"States who provide arms have responsibilities in terms of the eventual use of those arms to commit ... war crimes or crimes against humanity," said Paulo Pinheiro, who chairs a UN commission of inquiry on rights violations in Syria.

Earlier on Friday, Russia's President Vladimir Putin stressed that the West shouldn't send weapons to "terror groups" among the Syrian rebels.

"If the United States ... recognizes one of the key Syrian opposition organizations, al-Nusra, as terrorist ... how can one deliver arms to those opposition members? Where will they end up? What role will they play?" he wondered during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Distract, Distract, Distract: 2003 All Over Again

June 21, 2013
by Mark Allen
Strange times these are indeed. The current Presidential Administration has been on the frying pan for a long time now, dodging political bullets and covering up their sins against America. Attorney General Eric Holder, who is fighting not one but two nasty scandals is a man who, in 1995, said “we need to brainwash people”, referring to the liberal assault on the American People known as gun control. First he was caught illegally smuggling guns to Mexican drug cartels on taxpayer money. Then, with that issue still to this day unresolved, he was caught illegally spying on American journalists who criticized the President.

New evidence points to a possible gun trafficking operation in Benghazi, Libya, where four outstanding Americans, including two Navy SEALs and an Ambassador, were killed by al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists. The entire White House, Presidential Administration and State Department lied to the American People about what took place there, and not one of the politicians in charge have taken responsibility for it. This doozy of a scandal is so preposterous that we don’t even know what’s worse; Our government suspiciously allowing Americans to die, a possible false flag operation, or them lying about it to us. Ignorance must be bliss for the liberal crowd, who considers former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s outburst “What difference does it matter anyway?!” a resolution. The unnerving idea that our government could be in cahoots with al-Qaeda in Libya sounds much more plausible now that we know what is happening in nearby Syria.

Now, our government is foolishly getting more involved in a far-away civil war, supplying weapons, money and aid to our sworn enemies, al-Qaeda, and picking a fight with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah. Obama, who never loses an opportunity to slander his predecessor, is following in former President Bush’s footsteps, and escalating tensions in a Middle Eastern civil war that has nothing to do with America. Perhaps the President has forgotten the many times he has referred to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom as “reckless and misguided wars”. President Obama has decided that Americans will fund our sworn enemies, al-Qaeda in their fight to take down the Syrian government. You heard that right; the President is funding the jihadists that brought down the Twin Towers and have killed thousands of American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. I say President, because Obama has completely overridden Congress and the Constitution to enter wars himself, just like the Democrats accused President Bush of doing in 2003.

They tried to expose us gradually to treason, first by funding the overthrow of the Egyptian government, and replacing it with the Muslim Brotherhood. Now, Obama is taking matters into his own hands and completely overriding the American People, who are strongly opposed to US involvement in Syria, to enter into a dangerous conflict with massive ramifications. Iran is sending troops and Russia is supplying weapons in support of the current Syrian government, and Obama wants to support their enemies (and ironically our enemies too!) and threaten World War Three. Suspicious?

Of course it is, unless you’re one of the “useful idiots” our President relies on for unconditional support. The past few months have been an absolute feast for Obama critics, and a nightmare for freedom-loving American citizens. The government has failed to hide their many, many breaches of trust with the People, and have been shamelessly lying and shouting “Racist!” in their desperate, pitiful defense. Now that the stakes are at their highest, and the relationship between the Federal Government and the People most strained, our President has pulled the ultimate wild card as a last-ditch attempt to prolong his stay in office. Escalating American involvement in the Syrian civil war provides zero benefit to the American People, and foolishly draws us into an all-hell-breaks-loose scenario with Russia and Iran. The only reason our Government could possibly have for doing so is to distract from domestic problems. The “domestic problems” happen to be unprecedented, immoral and illegal attacks on our Constitution, our privacy and our freedom.

The government’s new strategy is to “distract, distract, distract”, and we must counter-attack, by staying true and watching closely. We, the American People, must now more than ever remain vigilant.

Kerry to defend Syria policy in Mideast visit

MANPAD_120727_02425x283
Syrian rebels/terrorists
Bee's note:  As my friend Bruce says, "THERE IS NO DEFENSE. YOU'RE KNOWINGLY AIDING AND ABETTING ISLAMIC TERRORISTS. THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION, NONE !  THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT NO MATTER WHAT THE BOYS OVER AT THE CFR WITH THEIR PROGRESSIVE NWO AGENDA DICTATES ON BEHALF OF THEIR SAUDI MASTERS !"

Over 70% of Americans do not want our troops involved in Syria's Civil War.  However, when has this administration listened to the people? As a matter of fact, when has President Obama paid attention to the U.S. Constitution, or presented his case of another ME Islamic war to Congress; has Obama taken time out to addressed the nation? Kerry wants to "defend" these actions in Qatar (where they plan on negotiations with the Afghanistan Taliban) and yet, he nor Obama has defended this action to the American citizens.

Read this article carefully; note the mention of France and Saudi Arabia.  If I remember correctly, France was all hot and bothered about Libya - look how well that worked out for us!  Leading from behind seems to be the norm with this White House; since when does the United State go to war after war at the bidding of other nations, or NATO?!  And, as my friend Bruce notes, since when do our leaders aid and abet the enemy?  The rebels/terrorists in Syria are connected to al Qaeda!  We're fighting them in Afghanistan, while arming them in Syria.  This sounds like something only an insane leader would consider, never mind actually following through with and expecting America to agree to such insanity.

Are the Saudis Obama's puppet masters?

Be sure to glance at the article written by Daniel Greenfield, on Front Page Magazine:
Obama Inc. Has Been  Training Syrian Fighters in Use of Anti-Aircraft Weapons1. Obama made a big show now of only providing anti-tank and not anti-aircraft weapons, letting the Saudis provide the anti-aircraft weapons out of plausible deniability. However clearly this was the plan all along.
2. The weapons shipments had nothing to do with any supposed red line, since training was already being provided, as a prelude to arming.
So once again we learn that Obama has been coordinating weapons shipments and training with terrorist supporting countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar while pretending not to be involved.Deja vu, just like in Libya.
Let's go to the Jerusalem Post to read the latest fiasco of this administration's foreign policy. Please note that Michael O’Hanlon  is not sure if a "few arms" will make a difference.  Really?  The newspapers are like a leaking faucet - drip, drip, drip.  We know that our troops have been on the Turkey/Syrian border since last year (at least one year!); we know weapons have been smuggled into Syria by way of Turkey, from Libya, since BEFORE last Sept. 11th, when four Americans were killed/tortured in Benghazi; and we know they are training Syrians in Jordan.  My guess is there are over 4,000 American troops at the edges of Syria - and who knows how many more Obama will commit to this insane war, if not stopped by Congress.

This so-called "man of peace", with his Nobel Peace Prize, is a crocodile in disguise.

Kerry to address allies concerns that providing Syrian rebels with small arms won't be effective in ousting Assad.

US Secretary of State John Kerry will confront concerns Saturday from Mideast and European allies that a US plan to send small arms won’t do enough to bolster Syrian rebels battling Bashar Assad’s regime.

The top US diplomat is to meet in Doha, Qatar, with foreign ministers from 10 other countries backing the Syrian opposition. Some, such as Saudi Arabia and France, have pushed to provide greater firepower to rebels who say they need anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons.

“The administration has a big challenge,” said Michael O’Hanlon, a defense analyst at the Brookings Institution in Washington. “It’s not clear that a few arms can make much of a difference. I see little evidence to back up that hope.”
Talks on Syria’s civil war, which has killed more than 93,000 people and driven more than 1.5 million refugees into neighboring countries, will be just the start of Kerry’s 11-day trip to seven countries. Efforts to revive Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons are among contentious issues on an itinerary that includes stops in Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and India.
Kerry arrives in Qatar after a flap there this week stole attention from the announcement of plans for talks with the Taliban on a peace agreement in Afghanistan. Afghan President Hamid Karzai objected when the Taliban opened a Doha office under the name it used when it controlled Afghanistan and initially said his government wouldn’t participate in the negotiations.
The Taliban changed the name of its facility and talks may begin as early as this weekend, starting with a meeting between US and Taliban officials. Kerry won’t be seeing Taliban representatives while in Doha, according to a State Department official who briefed reporters on the secretary’s trip yesterday on condition of anonymity.
Syria Debate
The White House has announced only that the US would expand military aid to the Syrian opposition. While President Barack Obama has authorized providing small arms and ammunition, he’s stopped short of backing air strikes against Assad’s forces, a no-fly zone over Syria or heavier weaponry to battle the regime’s tanks and aircraft, according to a US official familiar with the decision who asked not to be identified discussing the move.
“Everyone knows we’re going to have to do a lot more, and a lot more together, to get rid of Assad,” Andrew Tabler, a Syria analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said in an interview. “The question is how to get there. Everybody is torn, but I think this is going to be an interesting chat.”
Kerry’s tour includes his fifth visit to Israel in as many months in an effort to revive Israeli-Palestinian talks that have been moribund for almost three years amid disputes over the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. During stops in Jerusalem and Amman, Jordan, Kerry is scheduled to meet with Israeli, Jordanian and Palestinian Authority officials.
“We’re running out of time,” Kerry said to the American Jewish Committee, a Washington advocacy group, on June 3. “Let’s be clear: If we do not succeed now, and I know I’m raising the stakes, we may not get another chance.”
That provocative comment was probably a mistake, said Aaron David Miller, a former adviser to Republican and Democratic secretaries of state who is now a vice president at the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars in Washington.
“You can say it once, but you can’t say it more than that,” Miller said. “It just makes us seem desperate.”
No ‘Ownership’
The danger of starting U.S.-brokered talks now, Miller said, is that Israelis and Palestinians haven’t yet shown a commitment, or sense of ownership, in the peace process.
“The real problem here is the absence of ownership,” Miller said. “I don’t understand how Kerry can get around that. Rarely have I seen a secretary of state who seems so sure of himself.”
In meeting with Israeli officials, Kerry also is sure to hear concerns that an international coalition against Iran’s nuclear program may weaken after the victory of President-elect Hassan Rohani, a cleric backed by Iranian reformers, said Karim Sadjadpour, an Iran analyst at the Washington-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
“For Israel and neighboring Persian Gulf countries, a Rohani presidency is the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig,” Sadjadpour said. “They worry that Iran’s nuclear ambitions will remain unchanged, but under a more moderate leadership the international sanctions regime could unravel.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is extremely suspicious and worried that a diplomatic outcome will allow the Iranians to sneak a bomb through the back door,” according to Miller, who said Kerry will “want to retain a certain amount of independence from the Israeli view on this.”
Kerry also is scheduled to visit India, Kuwait and Brunei.

Israel Spent $126 Billion on Security Due to Palestinian Peace Process

June 20, 2013 By
FRONT PAGE MAGAZINE
israel terrorism

This figure is by necessity bound to be incomplete, but it’s a snapshot of what an economic disaster the endless un-peace process has been for Israel. Aside from the loss of life, the spending involved is staggering for such a small country.

As part of Monday night’s budget debate (the budget barely passed a first reading)  conservative Likud Member of Knesset Moshe Feiglin spoke and announced that he has found NIS 453 billion that have disappeared from Israel’s treasury in the nearly 20 years since the Oslo Accords were signed. As you read this, please keep in mind that what Feiglin is doing is comparing Israel’s budgets for the last 20 years to the 26 years before the Oslo Accords were signed (1967-93), during which these items in the budget were not necessary or spent.
Feiglin was forced to stop in the middle, but here’s what I got from it.
86 billion shekels in Israeli government transfers to Gaza in 20 years
28.5 billion additional shekels for General Security Service protection since Oslo was signed
13.7 billion shekels for deploying border police in Judea and Samaria since Oslo was signed (they weren’t needed there before)
87 billion additional shekels for increased IDF deployment in Judea and Samaria since Oslo was signed
68 billion shekels in additional security expenses for restaurants, malls etc. since Oslo was signed (there were no suicide bombings in Israel before Oslo was signed)
20 billion shekels for roads that detour around Arab villages since Oslo was signed (there was no need for them before)
4.7 billion for building the separation walls since Oslo was signed (there was no need for them before)
3.5 billion shekels in compensation to families of murdered terror victims
129 billion shekels for Operation Defensive Shield

This can be written off as the cost of peace, but there is no peace. This is the cost of an ongoing war caused by the illusion of peace.

Taliban leader Mullah Omar vowed to take Kabul 'within a week' of U.S. pullout

Image of US troops - Vietnam War
Bee's note:  Here's a comment from a friend: "A repeat of the Vietnam War , America's longest war Afghanistan will become another historical defeat . Failed Leadership at the highest levels, from Obama's policy of Courageous Restraint (Seventy-two percent casualties occurred during Obama's first term) to changing the US Afghan Theater Commander every year .. how could we even hope to accomplish anything."

Taliban leader Mullah Omar vowed to take Kabul 'within a week' of U.S. pullout

May 23: The Tolonews website runs a story on its front page reporting about news of the death of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar in Kabul. The Afghan Taliban rejected as 'propaganda' on Monday unsourced media reports that their reclusive leader, Mullah Omar, had been killed in Pakistan, saying he was alive and in Afghanistan and vowing to continue their insurgency. (Reuters)
By

FoxNews.com
Mullah Omar, the elusive, one-eyed Taliban leader who has been in hiding with a price on his head since the U.S. ousted his regime in Afghanistan, recently told confidantes his group will retake Kabul “in a week” once America pulls out.

The seldom seen Taliban spiritual leader, of whom only one purported photograph exists, made the pledge at a recent meeting in the badlands of southwestern Pakistan, according to a source in regular contact with a member of Mullah Omar’s government-in-exile, dubbed the Quetta Shura.

Mullah Omar, who escaped his homeland in 2001 on a motorcycle as U.S. forces moved in, spoke just days before President Obama announced the U.S. plans to engage the Taliban in peace talks. On the day of that announcement, the Taliban took credit for a bombing that killed four U.S. service members at Bagram Airfield, a U.S. military base in Afghanistan.

“[Mullah Omar believes] the host of Americans are a worse enemy than Americans.”

- Taliban militant privy to Mullah Omar's plans

It is unclear if Mullah Omar remains in charge of the full Taliban, or if the group made up of exiled members of the ruling class and jihadist fighters is splintered beyond control. The source who relayed Mullah Omar’s statements to FoxNews.com said the leader disavows the talks with the U.S.

Neither Mullah Omar’s pledge nor word of peace talks is likely to be welcome to Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Obama made the announcement at the Group 8 summit in Northern Ireland, where he called it “a very early step” toward the planned exit of U.S. troops by the end of 2014. The idea of Karzai and Mullah Omar co-existing in Afghanistan is inconceivable, according to the source, himself a Taliban militant.

“[Mullah Omar believes] the host of Americans are a worse enemy than Americans,” said the militant.

If the U.S. is seeking to engage Taliban leaders loyal to Mullah Omar, the bone of contention could be that America has him on its most wanted list, with a bounty of $10 million on his head.

Tariq Fatemi, a former Pakistani ambassador to the U.S. and a current adviser to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said, “Isn’t the U.S. willing to talk to the Taliban?” adding that he is “perplexed” by the fact that Omar remains on America’s hit list.

Mullah Omar, whose identity remains secretive despite his leadership role, rose to power after Afghanistan descended into chaos and civil war in the early 1990s. Seminary students armed and led by Omar fought against rampant corruption and crime, gaining the respect of Afghanistan’s mujahedeen fighters.

He became the Taliban’s de facto head of state in 1996, and remained there until  U.S. and allied forces toppled his government in October 2001 for sheltering Usama Bin Laden following the 9/11 attacks.

He is believed to be in his 50s, and has been moving cautiously between Afghanistan’s Spin Boldak district in Kandahar province and the southwestern Pakistani city of Quetta in the impoverished region of Balochistan, where rebels, terrorists and refugees live together.

“He is in good health and living a pious life being guarded by his trusted lieutenants,” said the militant who spoke to FoxNews.com.

Pakistan’s foreign office in a press release welcomed the announcement of the Taliban opening an office and direct talks between U.S., and the militant group reiterating urgency to an early end to the war to re-establish peace and security. The country has been key in facilitating the negotiations by releasing detained Taliban commanders over the past several months and some, according to Pakistan officials, will be part of peace negotiations.

Pakistan, which has an uneasy alliance with the U.S., is holding at least two high-level Taliban leaders under arrest and denies the Quetta Shura is waiting out the Americans on its soil. But trust between the two nations over Pakistan’s commitment to the U.S. war on terror has suffered since the 2011 raid that killed Al Qaeda boss Usama bin Laden in a compound in Abbottabad.

Fatemi just short of acknowledging Mullah Omar’s presence in Pakistan said that even if he was, the U.S. would be wrong to move against him as it did Bin Laden.

“Are we going back to the law of the Jungle?” Fatemi said. “Once you start breaking international law, you are setting a dangerous precedent.”

Response to Obama's Comment: "Islam always a part of American History"

Bee's Note:  I received the following Email this morning from a friend.  I remember reading the letter to Mr. Obama some time ago, but with all the "scandals" in Washington, DC and the arming of Syrian Muslim rebels/terrorists, plus his administration's announcement that they are considering allowing 80,000 Syrians to enter our borders under the status "refugees", it is fitting to repost the following:

SYRIAN REBELS/TERRORISTS

EMAIL:
The true story coming out now?
Barack Obama, during his Cairo speech, said: “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America's history.”

Please let the complete idiocy of that statement sink in for a moment.  And, if you are tired of the 5 plus years of Obama's tour around the world apologizing for our great nation, you will appreciate the following letter from an American citizen:

 AN AMERICAN CITIZEN'S RESPONSE

Dear Mr. Obama:
Have you ever seen a Muslim hospital? Have you heard a Muslim orchestra? Have you seen a Muslim band march in a parade? Have you witnessed a Muslim charity? Have you seen Muslims, shaking hands with a Muslim GirlScout? Have you seen a Muslim Candy Striper? Have your seen a Muslim do anything that contributes positively to the American way of life ????
The answer is no, you did and have not. Just ask yourself WHY???

Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.

Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.

Can you show me one Muslim signature on the: United States Constitution? Declaration of Independence? Bill of Rights? Didn't think so.

Did Muslims fight for this country's freedom from
England ? No.

Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America ? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own
half-brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims
of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as pug nosed slaves. Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family's rich Islamic heritage doesn't it Mr. Obama?

Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present. (sort of like your voting record in the Senate)

There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.

Where were Muslims during this country's Woman's Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic
culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the 'hajib' or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband.

Yep, the Muslims are all for women's rights, aren't they?

Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support fromthe Nazis in killing Jews.

Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001?

If they weren't flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in
Pennsylvania, killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East.

No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very

Muslims whose asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.

And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the rich heritage Muslims have here in America.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslims.

And now we can add November 5, 2009,  the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major, a doctor and a psychiatrist, who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That, Mr. Obama is the Muslim heritage in America!

The obvious actions of an American president who was raised as a Muslim, siding with Muslims, supporting Muslims and encouraging their brotherhood should be added to this list (Debilitating American military in ME, Egypt,Benghazi?).

P.S. Now, you can add the Boston Marathon bombings, too!

EVERY AMERICAN MUST READ THIS !! Be sure to SEND IT TO ALL.
Muslim Heritage, my ass. And if you don't share this message, you may be part of the problem!

Note:  Have you watched the video of the Syrian "rebels" literally eating the heart of a man they murdered? Google it - it's on You Tube and all over the Web.  These are the terrorists the U.S. is arming, and whatever the excuse found to support one Islamic group over another is unacceptable to the American people.  The United States should not become involved in the middle of an Islamic Civil War that has been going on for the last two years.  It is not in the best interests of the United States to arm, and support both militarily and with cash funds, Islamic countries that burn our flag, hate us, and wish us dead by all means available to them!

How has Egypt turned out since the Arab Spring?  Libya?  Afghanistan?  Iraq?  For crying out loud, Obama wants to sit down and talk with the Taliban, the very organization responsible for September 11, 2011.  That is waving the white flag in Afghanistan, after fighting these very same enemies for the last 12 years!

Remember, America once had a Civil War - worse war in history with over 600,000 Americans dead in that four-year war.  ---- Bee Sting
