Avoiding a second Holocaust

Bee's Note:  Surfing the Net for news on Iran, I find there is no lack of postings in relation to the U.S and Israel vs. Iran.  The Israel Project has one of the best commentaries, from the NY Daily News (below).  However, Americans Stand with Israel have discovered some extremely damaging reports and comments from our own administration and the links will be provided shortly.  I understand America's Number One issue during this election in November is the economy.
But I will state one more time that without strong leadership in the White House on foreign policy, America is on the brink of disaster.  If the United States fails to recognize that Iran obtaining nuclear weapons would be the end of a civilization as we know it today, fails to support Israel, continues to undermine Israel, unlike WWII, there will be no second chance to undo our grave mistake in ignoring Iran's ambitions .  There is no difference between the rise of Hitler and the rise of Ahmadinejad - diplomacy does not work with madmen.

Avoiding a second Holocaust
Ahmadinejad wants to destroy Israel
Op-Ed by TIP's Alan Elsner, New York Daily News, August 30, 2012

What does it mean to be faced with an existential threat?
It means you, your family, your community, your city and even your nation could cease to exist at any moment based on the decision of another actor, over whom you have no control.
Add to this the fact that this hostile actor tells you at every opportunity that he aims — nay, lusts — to destroy you, to “cut out the cancer” that is your nation.
That is how Israel is referred to by the leaders of Iran, who want nothing less than what they say: End the existence of the Jewish state.
And if they develop nuclear weapons, as they are now desperately trying to do, their dream could become deadly reality.
It’s hard for Americans to understand this. We haven’t faced such a threat for decades, since the height of the Cold War, when Nikita Khrushchev told the West, “We will bury you.”
Some of us still remember the Civil Defense drills of the 1950s and beyond. In the event of an atomic attack, people were taught to take shelter under a table or next to a wall and to cover exposed skin.
As David Rothkopf of Foreign Policy wrote last week, “Since then, the notion that any single actor with any single act could effectively obliterate Americans or their lifestyle is very hard for many people to get their brains around.“But that is exactly the threat that Israelis face from even a ‘limited’ Iranian nuclear attack. And though it is reasonable to debate whether the Iranians would actually use such a weapon against Israel given the likely consequences for them, from the Israeli perspective, given Iranian threats and actions, the risks of guessing wrong about the intent of the leaders in Tehran are so high that inaction could easily be seen to be the imprudent path.”
Some argue that a nuclear-armed Iran would be crazy to attack Israel, knowing that the response — almost certain to include American force — would be immediate and catastrophic for its own nation.
“Yes, a bomb in Tel Aviv would arguably be the end of Israel, while retaliation would destroy ‘only’ 20 million Iranians. But then, the very apocalyptic nature of the attack on Tel Aviv is what makes the threat of retaliation credible,” wrote Bernard Avishai in The Daily Beast.
But what if he’s wrong? What if, despite concerns of an Israeli counterstrike, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad — or some other high-level Iranian — pulls the trigger anyway? Can the risk of total annihilation, however slight, be acceptable to any Israeli leader?
And the rhetoric of war has only grown more heated.
In recent days, Iranian leaders have embarked on an almost unprecedented orgy of hate speech. The supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (who made the above remark about the Israeli “cancer”), called Zionism a “danger for all humanity.”
Not to be outdone, Ahmadinejad proclaimed that Israel’s existence is an “insult to all of humanity.”
A couple of weeks earlier, he told a gathering of Muslim diplomats that, “Anyone who loves freedom and justice must strive for the annihilation of the Zionist regime.”
Also, Ahmadinejad told Muslim ambassadors in Tehran that, “It has now been some 400 years that a horrendous Zionist clan has been ruling the major world affairs,” saying that Jews control “the major power circles in political, media, monetary and banking organizations in the world.”
Hitler would have been proud of such a speech — and the parallels to Nazism are intentional, obvious and highly significant.
For much of the world, the Holocaust has faded into history. But for Israelis, it is still all too real.
Many Israelis have or had parents and grandparents who survived — and many other relatives who did not.
For Jews, the massacre of 6 million — nearly the population of Israel today — remains living history.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu now faces one of the toughest decisions any Israeli leader has ever faced: Attack Iran preemptively, destroying its nuclear reactors, or hope that diplomacy, including tough sanctions, will wean Iran off its murderous ambitions?
Assuredly, Netanyahu knows the great cost — economic, diplomatic and, of course, human — of an attack on Iran.
But he simply cannot take the risk of allowing the Iranians to acquire the means to end the existence of Israel — which would condemn the Jewish people to two Holocausts in the space of 80 years.
Elsner, a former Reuters journalist, is an executive director of The Israel Project.

Oh, NOES! Where goeth the two-hour Islamic prayer fest at the Democratic National Convention?

Bee's Note:  Just before leaving for my vacation, I had linked an article from Red State about     Radical Islam Joins the DNC.  My first thoughts were about Obama's apology tours to Islam these past 4 years have finally come full circle and now Americans will see his "first" love is to Islam - not America.  However, there appears to be a last minute change and here it is explained by Bare Naked Islam (BNI):

BARE NAKED ISLAM   - SEPTEMBER 1, 2012

Earlier this week, BNI posted an article about the DNC sponsoring, as an ‘official event,’ an Islamic JUMAH at the DNC. But suddenly, in the past day or so, the DNC has scrubbed all reference to the Official Muslim Event from its website.
ORIGINAL STORY: MUSLIM JUMAH AT THE DNC

Gerard Direct  Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on August 29, 2012 which reported the following two sub headlines: “DNC approves Jumah for 20,000 Muslims.” “RNC adopts anti-Sharia plank at convention.”

The email alert and Floridafamily.org website provided a link to the DNC web site calendar of events which at that time and up until yesterday afternoon included the Juma event, which the original DNC website listed as an “official function.”

However, since then, the Jumah event was removed from the DNC web site calendar, and there is no reference at all to the event. A supporter noted in an e-mail, “It was still there 5.30 PM on 8/30/2012 and at 6.30 PM it was gone! I looked everywhere but it’s not listed anymore.”

Not only has all trace of the Jumah been deleted from the DNC website, the Jumah was slated to be held today, far from the DNC, at a location seven miles from the Convention Center.

One can only speculate on the kind of pressure that was exerted on the DNC to disassociate itself from the Jumah. The group sponsoring the assembly is far from the mainstream Muslm community. The Grand Imam for the Jumah will be Siraj Wahhaj, Imam of the al Taqwa Mosque in Brooklyn, who was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade center bombings. He is well known for his ability to be considered ‘moderate’ by much of the media, on the one hand, and for his inflammatory statements, such as the one he once gave in a speech, when he said that it was his “duty and our duty as Muslims to replace the U.S. Constitution with the Quran.”

Both Wahhaj and Jibril Hough, who is associated with the “Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs” and a co-leader of the event, are heavily involved in the separatist American Islamist movement.

According to FactCheck:

Jibril Hough, a Muslim activist and BIMA spokesman, told the Charlotte Observer that BIMA also wanted to hold political parties accountable for issues that affect Muslim-Americans. Those issues include the Patriot Act, a law that expanded anti-terrorism surveillance, and the New York Police Department’s wiretapping program to monitor Muslims.

Hough told the newspaper that he expected 20,000 Muslims to attend the prayer service as well as other BIMA-sponsored events scheduled in the days before the convention, including an Islamic issues conference and banquet, and a cultural festival.

Charlotte in 2012 sent us the following statement regarding its removal of BIMA’s event listing:

“This event, like many others on the page, was user generated. Upon further review, and because speakers for the event and statements and positions from event organizers were not appropriate and relevant to the Host Committee, Charlotte in 2012 has decided to remove the event from our events calendar.”

Bee's note:
Here are our friends from the Infidel Task Force about BNI's report:

This needs to be posted and re-posted over an over till everyone see's what they did!
this is not about they saw the error of their ways but about they saw the opposition against this and are now trying to act like they didn't do it at all!

Update: Labor Day Vacation has come to an end ...

Photo: Well, a week's vacation seems to end all to quickly! Photo is similar to the view from our lake-front cabin. I hadn't had an actual "vacation" in almost 4 years, so words cannot truly express how wonderful a week swimming, boating, and spending time with family was so refreshing for me. But, all good things come to an end; however, there are plans for next summer, so I can smile and now, get back to the business of taking back our country from Obama. .... Always good to spend time away, but just as good to return home. :)

It will take a few days to get up to speed after being away this past week.  To describe my vacation in one word, I would say "refreshing"!  The photo (above) is similar to the scene directly across from our lake-view cabin.  With family and one young grandson, I had the most wonderful vacation experience and we took advantage of all the ammenities offered by the camping resort: swimming in a crystal clear lake; using the hot tub to relax these old muscles; boating and fishing; and at the days end, sitting by the camp fire roasting marshmallows.  In eight days, we only had one rainy evening; we were greeted each new day with the kiss of a bright sunny morning.  We've made plans to return to the camp site next July 2013.

The cabin had cable TV and so, I did not miss the best speeches given during the NRC and if I had to choose just one speech, it would be difficult to choose.  However, to narrow it down, my favorites were the speeches given by Romney, VP candidate Ryan, Rubio, and of course, the guest speaker Clint Eastwood's direct and to the point - Obama's "empty chair".

While I swim through this week's news and commentaries, here's a video that sums up this so-called "war on women" in an interview with Michelle Malkin:

Women Take Center Stage at RNC Michelle Malkin Fox & Friends Weekend - 9-1-12

Mia Love, Susana Martinez, and Condoleeza Rice ALL all delivered breakout speeches at the recent Republican National Convention, yet the Liberal Left 'War on ''Conservative' Women continues in full force. Syndicated Columnist, NY Times #1 Best Selling Author, and CEO of Twitchy.com, Michelle Malkin, offers her perspective on this ongoing issue with Fox and Friends. Also discussed: Clint Eastwood's speech is discussed, along with the reaction it caused on both sides of the political aisle.

My favorite painting entitled "Obamanation":

My favorite comment of the week, referring to Clint Eastwood's "The Chair":

"It doesn't talk, so it can't lie"

Youth unemployment remains high, with 18-24 year olds facing unemployment over 15%. In a poll conducted by Crossroads Generation of 800 registered voters aged 18-29, only 22% said that they thought Obama had put into place policies that have made it easier for young people to find jobs.
