The Wrong Response in Cairo

Bee's Note:  Has anyone grasped the significance of Egypt's attack on the U.S. Embassy on 911?  Do you remember the Palestinian Muslims dancing in the streets of Gaza on Sept. 11, 2001?  Do you remember that it was Muslims (led by Osama binLiden - formerly of Saudi Arabia) who had planned and carried out the attacks on American soil that Tuesday morning on Sept.11th? Do you actually think these latest Muslim uprisings against the U.S. have anything to do with a darn movie?!  Think ... think ...!  These attacks were carefully orchestrated to occur on America's day of mourning and remembrance of 9/11.  The attacks on 9/11, by Arab Muslims, sent a warning message - the War on Terror has not ended - it's on-going  Time to pull the rug out from Egypt and Libya.
And before you attempt to pass these attacks off as "just another day in paradise", by blaming a small Islamic terror organization, ask yourself, how is it that a "small" terrorist group spread from Egypt to Libya in a matter of hours?!  America is paying a high price for oil and it's becoming clear that no matter how much money we gift these Muslims, it will never be enough to buy their friendships.
Does it really matter which Islamic terrorist organization carried out their attacks, when ALL terrorist groups have one thing in common - they are Muslims, with connections to each other and ALL are filled with an insane hatred towards the West.  Iran supports Hezibollah, Hamas and is also connected with 9/11; the Muslim Brotherhood has ties to terrorism and is a terrorist organization.  Since the Arab Spring, there has been no doubt where the MB is leading Egypt and it isn't down the road to a recognizable democracy!  ... This administration is so use to apologizing to America's enemies, it jumped the gun and apologized to the very people attacking our Embassy.  That apology has had to be "re-worded" for the sake of "damage control", but too late, as the damage cannot be undone.
Egypt can go pound sand!  Last year, Egyptians attacked the Israeli Embassy. Business as usual, without so much as a peep of outrage from world leaders. Israel's Embassy was attacked by the same crowds that attacked the U.S. Embassy yesterday.  Are you seeing a connection here?  What will it take before our own leaders understand that what began as an "Arab Spring" has quickly turned into non-democratic Islamic, Sharia law-led countries.  Libya and Egypt are not democratic societies, nor can they ever be under the rule of Islamists.
Most of what happened yesterday can be contributed to Obama running interference, by first demanding that the former president of Egypt "step down" and yes, with the overthrow of Gaddaffi.  I think Obama backed the wrong horses, as he has done with every foreign policy related to the Middle East.  Time to support our only ally in the ME - Israel.  Time to support America's real allies and stop pandering and appeasing those countries in the Middle East that are a threat to America's national security.
ISLAMISTs ATTACK U.S. EMBASSY IN CAIRO, EGYPT - 9/11/2012

AMERICAN THINKER

Robert Stephenson
September 11, 2012 was a sad day for our country.  A group of radical Islamists attacked the American embassy in Cairo, tore down the American flag, and burned it in the street.  Reuters reported that about twenty young men scaled the walls of the embassy and tore down the flag, which was then torn apart and burned by around two thousand people who were also protesting around the embassy.  The American flag was then "replaced" with a black flag carrying the words, "There is no God but God, and Mohammad is his messenger."
Taking into consideration how outrageously disrespectful and insulting this act was, an immediate condemnation would be expected.  And considering that American service members have fought and died for that same flag which was trampled and burned in the streets of Cairo yesterday, it would be expected that the American government make very clear that what happened was completely unacceptable and intolerable.  Instead, this was the response issued by the United States embassy:
The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims - as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.  Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy.  Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy.  We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.
The protesters in Cairo claimed to be acting out in response to a film, tied to Gainesville, Florida pastor Terry Jones, which is critical of Islam and Mohammed.  The American Embassy felt compelled to apologize for the acts of the film makers, instead of condemning the acts of the violent protestors who desecrated our flag.  In short, we apologized for making them mad.
This situation displays some of the current administration's most dangerous beliefs, namely the belief that radical Islam will hold no ill-intent toward America as long as we don't make them angry.  It also represents the belief that Muslims can't be held to the same standards of behavior and tolerance as are people of other religions.  This type of naiveté is rampant in liberal politics, but it is especially damaging and dangerous when applied to foreign policy.
Radical Islam's hatred for America is an ideology, not a reaction.  A human being is not absolved of responsibility because of a certain religious following.
What happened in Cairo yesterday was unacceptable, and no film changes that, regardless of whether or not is critical of Islam.  The American Embassy has no reason to offer an apology, but it does have a duty to demand one.
