Envoys of the Middle East Quartet will meet separately in Jerusalem on October 26 with Israeli and Palestinian representatives, the State Department said Monday.

"Quartet envoys will be meeting with the parties in Jerusalem on October 26," State Department spokesman Mark Toner said, adding that separate meetings would be held.

The Quartet – made up of the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia – launched an effort on September 23 to restart suspended peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

ts proposal called for resuming talks within a month and reaching a peace agreement in a year.

Israelis and the Palestinians responded favorably, but their reactions to it suggested they have opposing interpretations of the initiative.

(Note: Member of "The Gang" accuses Israel - before negotiations begin!?)
EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton on Sunday accused Israel of undermining peace efforts by deciding to build a new settlement in east Jerusalem.

Last week, Ashton welcomed the prisoner exchange deal signed between Israel and Hamas, slated to take place on Tuesday.

"I warmly welcome the news that Gilad Shalit will soon be able to return home after over five years of captivity, putting an end to the long ordeal that he and his family have endured," Ashton said in a statement.

"I pay tribute to the work of all those who have worked tirelessly to secure his release, and in particular the Egyptian and German negotiators," she added.

NOTES:
First, to the pretentious Ashton: take your accusations and stuff them!  Making accusations against one of the parties BEFORE negotiations does not give Israel a fair playing field; you have already demonstrated your preference ... and it isn't in Israel's favor.  Aren't you suppose to be "neutral"?  Mediators are normally neutral, aren't they?

Secondly, we're pleased you are pleased with Israel's "prisoner exchange deal" (not that your opinion matters), but are you aware that today, one day after your comments were printed, it appears the U.S. has second thoughts about the prisoner exchange?  Here, read it for yourself:

"In an apparent about-face, US officials criticized Tuesday evening the deal brokered for the freedom of Gilad Shalit, which set hundreds of terrorists, including those who had murdered Americans, free. The criticism came after it became clear that the released terrorists included those who had murdered Jews with United States citizenship.
Earlier on Tuesday, US President Barak Obama had said he was pleased with the deal that set Shalit free  despite his own nation’s strict policy of not negotiating with terrorists for the release of its citizens." ... read more from Arutz Sheva
Now, here's the question:  Obama says America has a strict policy of not negotiating with terrorists and that is correct.  Therefore, for your "Gang" to continue to blame and accuse Israel before negotiations begin makes us think Israel is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't, according to your plumb line.

Here we have Obama agreeing and then disagreeing with Israel's prisoner exchange.  Didn't Obama understand beforehand that these Palestinian terrorists murder innocent citizens - both Israelis and those visiting Israel i.e. American citizens?   Is he in shock that Hamas barbarians and Palestinian prisoners MURDER anyone and everyone just for the simple joy of killing?  Terrorists don't care if their victims are Israeli or Americans - they kill for the sport of it - that's what terrorist do!  Go ask the victim's families of 9/11 if terrorists murder innocent civilians.  Was the prisoner exchange "ok" with Obama until he was informed that American citizens were murdered?  Apparently it didn't bother him that Israelis were murdered; he only flip-flopped after someone told him Americans died at the hands of Palestinian terrorists - and what does that say about Obama?!

And, since Obama now changes his mind, is he still in agreement with the entire "Gang"?  If not, and you all can't agree on whether or not Israel made the right decision for her nation, how the heck do you expect these same terrorists i.e. Palestinians/PLO's/Hamas et. al. to come to terms in any so-called peace negotiations?

Lastly, most importantly, remembering the words of Obama, why do you bother showing up for another  meeting, knowing that Fatah agreed to join up with Hamas (have you forgotten they are now "one" - no longer a separation between Hamas and Fatah?).  Hamas, a known terrorist organization was chosen by Fatah, rather than choosing to negotiate with Israel. So, not negotiating with terrorists would mean Israel should not be expected to "negotiate" with a group that has already made it clear they do not accept Israel's right to exist.

Oh, I know, Israel continues to extend her hand in the hopes that she can come to some type of agreement with Fatah; Israel has never refused to sit down and discuss "peace"; but let's be honest, your Gang expects "peace" to come about by having Israel give up all, while the Palestinian terrorists have no intentions of agreeing to anything.  If they did, your Gang would not have to meet the parties separately; they would be in the same room.  PM Netanyahu offered to do just that at the UN meetings; didn't happen!

Unless you all just love visiting Israel (don't blame you if you do), you should all save your money and stay home, because your idea of peace is the same as the Arab's idea of peace - that is why all of you in the Gang make public accuastions against Israel BEFORE your meetings.  Take this note down: Israel is not a "Banana Republic" - she's a nation and she will continue to build wherever she sees a need for her citizens.  Building homes does not prevent anyone from discussing "peace"!  Israel can't be expected to stop growing, or building, until the Arab Palestinians decide to seek peace, rather then continue kidnapping IDF soldiers and blowing up buildings.

Ok, now that we understand each other, let's sing .... "Hail, hail the gang's all here; what the heck do we care, what the heck do we care ...."
